So a couple of weeks back I posted about my leopard gecko model that I'd sent off to be 3D printed by Shapeways. It turned out great and was pretty much life-sized too. I was really pleased with the result. Print quality is much better than I expected. This is in the white nylon plastic material- it's super light (feels like it'd easily break if I dropped it) and matte with quite a grainy feel. All her bumps I sculpted came out great (biggest ones about 1mm, and even teeny pin-prick bumps on her head just about came through, although the graininess of the material masks it a little). Ultra detail plastic was much more expensive so I just went for the cheapest I could for first print out.
